An evening of inspiration for Team Red Cross

It doesn’t get much better for Boston marathoners than an evening full of inspiring words from some of the nation’s top athletes and advice from runners who have mastered the art of crossing the finish line. 

On Wednesday, April 4, the American Red Cross hosted “Marathon Moments: An Evening of Inspiration at The Back Back Hotel – the official hotel for Team Red Cross. WBZ-TV anchor David Wade emceed the event, which featured words from Jarrett Barrios, CEO of the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts, and presentations from triathlete and Red Cross Spokesman Brian Boyle, and two-time marathon winner and Olympic gold medalist Joan Benoit Samuelson, who was introduced by Boston Athletic Association Executive Director Thomas Grilk.

The event was a kick-off and a night of recognition for members of Team Red Cross – a team of 21 runners who are raising money for the American Red Cross before the Boston Marathon on April 16.
