Red Cross event highlights inspiring work behind disaster response

Joanne Holbrook Patton, a fifth-generation Army daughter who was married to the late Major General George S. Patton for 52 years, hosted an Evening of Inspiration on April 24 in South Hamilton. 

Becky McCorry, national director of the Red Cross Disaster Operations Center, made a presentation to the crowd about being in the center of major national disasters and what it takes to build the Red Cross disaster response team and deploy human and material resources to major disasters.

American Red Cross Disaster volunteer Jean Holroyde-Busch also spoke about emergency-related activities here at home.

 Host Committee members included Joanne Holbrook Patton, Event Chair; Lauren Baker, American Red Cross Tiffany Circle; Frederica Doeringer, American Red Cross; William Howard, Beverly Cooperative Bank; Edward & Betty McMillan, Hamilton; Chris Moran, Merrill Lynch & Red Cross Board; and Ken Wilson, Capital Hotel Management.
