Red Cross volunteers needed at Museum of Science Exhibition

On June 9 and 10 come to the Museum of Science to witness the sheer power of mother nature in the High Impact Weather exhibition.  “Disastrous weather invokes fear in some and excitement in others. Explore weather phenomena in a safe environment so you can better understand and appreciate the complexities of weather, forecasting, and disaster preparedness.”

The American Red Cross will be featured with the exhibit to demonstrate how our volunteers respond to high impact weather events such as tornadoes, hurricanes and ice storms.  Featured will be disaster relief volunteers who have worked on natural disasters such as the tornadoes in Springfield, Hurricane Katrina,  and the blackout causing ice storms in northeastern Massachusetts.  The Red Cross will be handing out preparedness information and explaining what should be present in a “go bag” in case of an emergency.

Volunteers are encouraged to sign up and any disaster relief volunteers would be greatly appreciated.  There will be two hour shifts (although you can help for longer if you would like) from:

1) 10am-12pm

2) 12pm-2pm

3) 2pm-4pm

If you are interested in helping on either of the days, or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Rebecca Uva at Rebecca.Uva@redcross.org
