American Red Cross president/CEO speaks in Boston

Gail McGovern, president and CEO of the American Red Cross, spoke at an event in Boston to supporters of the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts.

She talked about donations that sustained the efforts after the devastating earthquake in Haiti. She was speaking of donors who are tough, savvy, and wanted to know where their money went — including a class of 9-year-olds from Dedham who wanted to know what happened to the $400 they raised to assist the American Red Cross work in Haiti.

McGovern was introduced by Jarrett Barrios, right, CEO of the Eastern Massachusetts region of the Red Cross, who spoke of Gail McGovern’s reputation for being a tight fiscal manager at the Red Cross.
