Jini McClelland, Youth Outreach Coordinator, recruits student volunteers at the Endicott Volunteer Fair last week.
Youth Programs recruited a handful of volunteers at Endicott College last week, and is hoping to attract more.
Shawna Dias, Youth Program Manager at the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts, said a partnership with the school should help bring more students on board.
“We’re working with the Endicott Event Management Organization on our Winter Blackout Dance for teens, and they’re helping us to find and secure a venue,” Dias said.
The Youth Advisory Board has chosen to donate proceeds from the annual dance to the American Red Cross Food Pantry in Boston, and hopes to hold a canned food drive at the door.
Dias said the program, which provides young people with meaningful opportunities to help their communities prepare for and respond to emergencies, is always looking for more volunteers.
