Red Cross history, observed

Nancy Hess

American Red Cross volunteer Nancy Hess works with uniforms that have been stored at the Red Cross for decades. This is a summer uniform that was made in Tulsa in the 1940s.

Hess is part of a project to help catalog items we have in storage, in offices, and sometimes, in dusty boxes. After 100 years or so, it makes sense to check out what you have, what condition its in, and what stories these items can tell us.
