Get the Facts on Measles

Measles may seem to start as nothing more than a slight fever and the common cold but symptoms of the contagious disease will be sure to show in no less than a few days. Recognize the signs before it is too late!

  • Measles is one of the most infectious diseases known to man
  • Early stage symptoms include: cough, runny nose and red, light-sensitive eyes
  • Symptoms emerging 2 to 4 days later will show a fine rash of red spots that will develop on the face and make its way down the entirety of your body accompanied by a fever that could reach upwards of 103° F
  • Koplik spots (little white spots) may pop up on the insides of your cheeks
  • Symptoms of measles (also known as Rubeola) can begin to emerge anywhere from 7 to 21 days after exposure to an infected person
  • Someone infected with the disease is considered contagious from four days before symptoms emerge and up to four days after

It is very important to avoid the disease by taking the vaccination, which will provide you with immunization from the disease… as well as peace of mind!
