Did you lose power?

Thousands of residents throughout Massachusetts have lost power, and we have tips for you if you’re one of them:

  • Use flashlights, avoid candles.
  • Cell phone dead? Try charging it off a charged laptop.
  • Dress in layers. Make sure you have plenty of blankets.
  • Avoid opening the refrigerator. It lets out cold air.
  • Have a fire place? Avoid burning paper. Make sure the flue is open.
  • Have neighbors? Make sure they’re ok. If you have power and they don’t, invite them over.

Keep in mind we currently have four shelters open at the following locations. On Cape Cod:

  • Falmouth High School
  • Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School
  • Nauset Regional High School

Martha’s Vineyard:

  • Tisbury Elementary School

  1. I have a daughter and so-in-law that iive in Pocassett, MA. They have a dog, lost power and have no heat. Where can they go to seek shelter until power is restored at their home? Please let me know so I can get in touch with them so they can go somewhere.
