Polanco: What I have gained from interning at the Red Cross

My experience at the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts has been wonderful.  I’m only halfway through my internship but I am learning many things. One of the most important things I’ve learned is how the Red Cross responds to disasters when they occur.  The Red Cross is a great organization to be involved with, being able to provide help for families and our community. We are always on high alert, ready to respond to any disaster that may occur.

Interning at the Red Cross is giving me the opportunity to experience work in an office.  The office has a positive atmosphere and everyone gets along very well working as a team.  I am learning about disaster response, writing blogs, and how to conduct interviews by asking the right questions, even having the chance to interview someone who was at the Boston Marathon bombing.
