Interns spend a day at the food pantry

A fun shot of the Food Pantry staff

Our high school interns yesterday got a first hand look at what it takes to run a food pantry – and for Communications intern Rautchy Polanco, the experience was a memorable one. Read his account below:

Yesterday I had the opportunity to be involved in a food pantry, as a Red Cross volunteer, to distribute food to the people in our community. The experience working with people as a team was great and fantastic. We made many people smile and they thanked us. We also got to meet other volunteers from another group called the Food Project and the Food Bank.

I would love to be involved in something like this again: everyone works together so well, like a family. All the volunteers had a great time, and some of them had volunteered plenty of times before at the food pantry. They agreed that the experience is always amazing and fun, as you work to make families happy.
