Better understanding: Rights of the Disabled

cordThe American Red Cross of Massachusetts and Cape Organization for Rights of the Disabled (CORD) have signed a memorandum of understanding.

The agreement was just signed between ADA Advocate Cathy Taylor and Red Crosser Rachel Potts.

The pact formalizes the relationship between the two organizations, and how each is a resource to the other during a disaster. CORD agrees also to come to Disaster Action Team meetings and train Red Crossers on ways disaster responders can be more sensitive and “in-tune” to those with different disabilities. The Red Cross will offer staff and clients at CORD presentations on preparedness and offer staff an opportunity to volunteer.
